Some of the Garden Installation Crew
The garden was installed by Master Gardeners--pictured and some not pictured as well as friends of Joan Parker.
The space was transformed on the historic Osgood House, Medford, Ma, property. The gardeners of the Mass Gardener's Association, Medford Food Cupboard Pantry Garden, and friends of Joan Parker raised funds to create this garden space. I am a member of the Medford Food cupboard garden, and I volunteered to create a design.
JOAN'S GROVE A MEMORIAL SPACE FOR AN AVID GARDENER
Paths in place
A J-shaped path with sub-paths was created to provide some structure to the space. New larger plantings were added: A, Maple Tree, Rhodies, Azaleas, and some smaller ground covers. The stone benches line part of the path.
Before Image of Joan's Grove
The property primarily had weeds and some turf, as well as some well-appointed Norway Maples. Although, not many people's favorite trees in New England, the maples do provide a thick and high canopy and welcomed shade in the summer.
Working with people who want to make improvements to their property through good design, is what I like to do. You may want to have a more welcoming yard to enjoy with family and friends. You may want to try your hand at growing a garden or having perennial flowers. You may be interested in having a multifunctional space where your children can play and invite as much nature into your space as possible. I'll listen to what you're hoping to get from your landscape and together we'll work towards your goals.

ABout Landscape Design For U
Taking a page from Nature, LandscapeDesignForU is all about seeing how the home garden or property can work more like nature. A forest or other wilderness area doesn't pull weeds and use pesticides to take care of problems... and look at how beautiful these spaces are.
Using permaculture principles and working with the client's goals and interests, we create a design that works with nature. Looking at your site we'll design a space that has functionality while creating a habitat that you and your family will enjoy.
We want to know what is important to you. What do you hope to accomplish in the space and what does the space mean to you?
